Here Comes the Sun

"Here Comes the Sun" has always been my favorite Beatles song, and it fits so well today with this sampler, from The Stitching Parlor, called "Peaceful Garden." I'm stitching it with the recommended Crescent Colours (all 47 of them!) on 40 ct Lakeside Linen in vintage buttercream. I think the reality of this little sampler (not so little, actually, at about 240 x 260 stitches) is so much prettier than the chart photo would indicate. And it's a nice break from the fiddliness of some of my other samplers with their elaborate stitches and over-one. Oh, yeah, I got my copy of Scarlet Letter's "Grazing Sheep" yesterday. Wow. What a major undertaking! If you want to see it in action, you should watch Sandra's at the Sampler Lover's blog. She's an amazing stitcher. Now that I've seen the chart (so MUCH over-1), I feel a tad intimidated...

And to switch songs to "Uncle Ernie" from The Who's "Tommy," here we have much fiddling about with Catharine McNeal's sampler. I was so pleased to get to the brickwork, and I'm working away on the border thistles as well. I'm skipping some of the thistles and the roof of the house until the end so that I don't damage the satin stitches, some of which cover 12 threads.

I got a kick out of everyone's comments about the trucking and the parallel parking last week. I believe the world is divided up into two camps: those who can parallel park, and those who can't. In my case, I consider the damage I could do to someone else's car by cutting too close to the side, my own car and whatever's up on the sidewalk and just decide I need the walk--sometimes a very looooong walk. And Barbara, I'm definitely older than you are! Here's my photo to prove it, and for you local stitchers who mused that you wouldn't know me if you ran into me in the needlework shop.

Peaches is contemplating an Easter dinner for us here while the boys sleep. Isn't that always the way, Peaches?

Off to make our dinner--happy week ahead, and may the sun shine on you--especially you folks in Oklahoma!

I love your new start and your Catharine! And yes, Grazing Sheep is one I want to start too. That over one is very intimidating, like you said, but the colors are so pretty! I love seeing your picture! Yay! Now isn't Peaches starting the Easter dinner planning a bit early? :D

Oooh, I love the colors in Peaceful Garden -- so bright and cheery! You're making great progress on Catharine. I picked this up at my LNS yesterday; it's been forever since I've done satin stitches.

I'm with you in the non-parallel-parker camp. It takes me 5 minutes of forward-and-reverse to get into a space that other people can zip into in about 12 seconds. Not my thing.

Gorgeous sampler projects! I love both of them because they are different, and the colors are so pretty!

Nice picture of you that you shared with us, and the bunnies are as adorable as always!

Oh my gosh, Glenna! You look fabulous - please share your secret!! (At least with me - I promise I won't tell anyone else.) It's funny how you get a mental picture of someone and convince yourself that it's real. :)

I absolutely love your newest start. You pick such great projects!

Elvis is doing a "Goldie"!!!!

That's not you. You are really a toothless old homeless fellow in Des Moines just making this stuff up in a library with Google Image.

It is so here RG! Can't you see the bunny-love all over that sweet face????

My husband is a champion at parallel parking. He can fit a vehicle into a space that seems impossible, often on the very first try. I swear he can defy the laws of physics!

So what's Peaches thinking of putting on the Easter menu? Spring mix salad and kale?

Lovely start on that gorgeous sun - and that's one of my favourite Beatles songs too.

Ok, I gotta ask - how many WIP do you currently have in progress?

Love your new start - I had not seen this piece, it's great!

What a lovely picture of yourself - thanks for sharing it with us.

I am just now catching up on my blogging as I spend a long weekend in Alexandria/D.C. and yes, I stopped by Woodlawn and In Stitches. Did you attend the needlework show? It was amazing! I just wish they had listed the design names along with each piece.

All that to say - I didn't have a chance to comment on your previous post. Congrats on your award - it is well deserved as you inspire and enable all of us with your numerous amazing projects. I love the five things you shared with us and they were not boring. Parallel parking is an impossible feat. Yet, my husband does it as it effortlessly.

I hope you have a great week.

Sweet pic of you, Glenna, the caption could be "here comes the sun"! For some reason I always thought you would look like a rabbit, but now I see it is not the case. And look at that pile of bunnies....if I could get my four to pile like that.....

Beautiful stitching on your samplers!

You've shown us so many photos of your "buns," it is lovely to see one of your face - LOL!

Ack! Glenna!! Please don't twist my arm, please!! I'm going to get shot if I buy even one more chart, lol! I've had that Peaceful Garden chart on my wishlist since the day I discovered online needleworks shops (It was like a whole new world opened up and choirs of angels sang in a multitude of voices... ahem). I think I might have to buy it now and stitch it vicariously through you for a while -I'm afraid it will go OOP.

Great progress on Catherine!

Yay for the pic of your lovely sweet face! Now if I run into you, I'll at least think to myself "Self." "Yeah?" "You know that person..." and then I'll stare at you while my faulty memory tries to figure it out - hopefully I won't frighten you off with my stalkerish gaze before my brain makes the connection. :)

Oh, and I really enjoyed the 5 interesting things about you (didn't get a chance to comment, I'm sorry!!) - LOVE it that you were a truck driver! That is just so COOL!

BTW, Congratulations! I gave you an award which you'll find on my blog. Hugs
