2. The Gingham Dog and the Calico Cat

Project # 2 of the 15-day Crazy January Challenge is "The Gingham Dog & the Calico Cat" by Carriage House Samplings. It's not the large project I imagined starting today, because I'm still gathering the parts and pieces. That's okay, though; I've sprinkled smaller projects through the Challenge so that I'm not completely overwhelmed.

I'm stitching it in the charted NPI colors on a small piece of Lakeside from my stash in 40 count maritime white, I think. It's a fun stitch, and the colors are more true to this photo than the photo of the CHS cover art. [Edited to add: I have made a mistake in the border, but I am not a perfectionist when a mistake can be concealed or worked around. Because I don't think it detracts, I'm leaving it as is. If you look at the cover art and my "model," you'll see what I mean. Fortunately, such things don't drive me nuts. I'll call it customization.]

My updated Crazy 15 list:

1. Christinia Cathcart, The Samplar Workes, 32 count mystery fabric, AVAS silks
2. The Gingham Dog & the Calico Cat, Carriage House Samplings, 40 ct LL, NPI silks

I got this Happy Meal animal yesterday. You can indeed get apple slices instead of fries--they're called apple dippers, and they're delicious--crisp and cold, served with a little container of caramel sauce.

Here are some of my stitching buddies, cheering me on (well, snoring me on, maybe). You can see some of my stitching bags spread out on the sofa.

Off to do some cleaning and a little more stitching. Happy evening and see you tomorrow with Project #3!

What a fun project with beautiful colors! You know I don't think I've ever seen this one stitched before. Looking forward to seeing all 15 of your challenge projects. Happy 2011!

Your stitching buddies are sending you positive vibes in their sleep. Would you prefer them to be wide awake and "helping"? Cute sampler!

I love your "customization" word. I used to go nuts when I was off and would take everything out, even when it was half done. My sister thought I was very weird to put it nicely but somewhere in the aging process I have changed and now if I can fudge it, I will. Love seeing what each new day brings on your list.

I love that rhyme! I have a book with the cutest illustrations. What a nice design. You have lovely stitching buddies too, what's a project without a little cat hair sewn in there?

Oh fun... you'll be making the first 15 days of January interesting. Great start on the CHS design. Love your attitude about stitching mistakes. I heartily agree.

Oh gosh, I love this chart! How have I missed it? I'll really enjoy watching your progress on this one.

Love the Gingham Dog and the Calico Cat! This is in my "to do" pile. Watching you stitch it may move it closer to the top of that pile. :)

Couch looks like ours most of the time. Crap all over one section and a dumb cat in the middle of the other. I wind up pinched in a corner with no room for my feet.

Hope you got a boat or a lighthouse or a rabbit somewhere in that fine 15.

Happy New Year! (Really!)

Gee; I hope all the CJ Challenge people post daily like this! If so, I'm in for some eye candy!!!

As a rabbit-lover, I'm sure you know that this is the year of the rabbit. Check out this food-cum-mommy blogger's post on her Nengajo 2011!

Beautiful project. That Maritime White is one of my favorite linens!

I love this design. And I love your "customizations". I spend more time ripping stuff out than putting stuff in. Maybe I should rethink that.

Your McDonald's kick #*% compared to the ones around here!

This CHS is in my stash, and I even sprang for the NPI silks. So why haven't I stitched it???
