Pink, Peaches and Elvis said their goodbyes to Audrey last night. Pink bowled her over and chewed her bandana, seeming to understand that she is Not-a-Bunny.
Little Elvis, who wears his heart on his sleeve for all bunny creatures, groomed her, licking her nose. He didn't seem to mind that she didn't reciprocate.
Pink: "Elvis is cute, but he isn't very smart."
Elvis: "I have cotton mouth."
Peaches: "Oh, brother."
Here we are at the approach to the GW Bridge. By now I have discovered that I should have stopped at the last rest stop on the NJ Turnpike because I have to pee. I have also realized that in spite of the radio's traffic report to use the bottom deck (local traffic) instead of the top deck (through traffic) because the upper deck delay is 15 minutes of jockeying into line rather than 5 minutes of cutting in and out, I have managed to get on the upper deck. I paid $8 for the dubious pleasure. Along with $9.05 for the NJ Turnpike, and about $8 for the Delaware Bridge and $6 for the Baltimore Tunnel and $4 for driving through Maryland without benefit of any particular structure. And $1.75 to someone for something.
So somehow I blundered onto the top deck. Here it is. Fabulous. Traffic was moving here. Not so on the other side, where my bladder and I spent a very long time on the Cross-Bronx Expressway and then the NY Thruway, creeping along and thinking about rest areas and trying to decide if I should risk getting off the highway (I could see big-box stores from the highway) in the Bronx or Co-Op City. I wasn't sure I could find the highway again if I took a random exit, so I stuck with 95 while Best Buys with bathrooms shimmered like impossible mirages--just out of reach.
But we made it finally--10.5 hours after I started out this morning. Audrey is admiring the view of Green Pond.
She's already made friends with one of the locals.
But she isn't sure about dinner, a stuffed quahog and corn on the cob.
We're off to bed now. Look for more adventures tomorrow night, and perhaps even some stitching.
Happy week ahead!

Whoa!! I'm FIRST??!! :)
Glad you arrived safely - sorry about the traffic... and the tolls! Aye aye aye!! They are getting a bit ridunkulous, don't you think? I mean really... we aren't taxed enough via our gasoline?? Anyway.
I'm so behind on commenting, so sorry I've missed your last couple/ few posts! Your framing was so nice! They did a great job! And, I loove that new pattern you snagged!
Have a wonderful time!
Oh my gosh...what a fun post!! Glad you made it safe and sound!! Have fun!
Wow. Sorry about the traffic and bladder issues - haven't we all been there? But yay on your arrival! I'm sure Audrey enjoyed the corn, even if the quahog probably wasn't to her taste.
how lovely of the buns to give Audrey such a send off! Glad you arrived safely!
I'm glad that you made it safe & sound! Sorry about the traffic. :P I hate driving in that NY traffic--it always unnerves me. Probably from watching my dad, a NYC native, drive with one hand on the wheel with the other arm slung across the car seat next to him. LOL Have a great time!
I'm glad you and Audrey arrived safely, tolls and all! I hope you have a lovely vacation -- looking forward to more of Audrey's adventures!
It's always an adventure driving through the NYC area, isn't it? I always let DH do the driving when that's required. lol! Glad you made it through ok. Love the pics of the ocean! You need to get yourself one of those automatic toll payer thingies. Then you never notice how much the tolls are costing you -- and you don't have to wait in lines as much. :D They're accepted all up and down the east coast too! (My mind is blank -- can't remember what it's called. Duh....)
Oh, I hate hate hate when I am traveling and need to 'go'. For some reason I can't seem to think of anything else. I am glad you made it through all the tolls and traffic. We are driving from Fairfax to Newark on Wednesday and I guess I'll be grousing about the tolls too.
Glad you and Audrey made it safely. Are Pink, Peaches, and Elvis going to join you? It looks so pretty up there!
Oooo, I hate traffic! Our local highways make me nervous enough...I'd be scared spitless on those!
Welcome back to the Bay State, Glenna! :)
Oooo!! Your bunnies are just the cutest!!!
Eek. Driving. I never drive, I don't even have a car here, but I'm going to have to get one when I move to the burrows (hee hee). I'm terrified and probably will need to practice for months before I can actually go anywhere.
Glad that you arrived safely, but boo on that traffic. I've never deal with any of that when I've been in New York - take trains or taxis (and the occasional subway trip just to experience the atmosphere). Hope that you have a wonderful time.
Obviously Pink was jealous that he didn't get to go. Love the pictures. Looks like a good time, even though there were the tolls. Have a good time.
My mom taught me to always use the bathroom even if I didn't have to go. Whenever I deviate from that sound advice ... I wish I hadn't! LOL!
So glad you made it safely. I hope Elvis' cottonmouth is already nothing more than a memory. ;)
What a sweetie :) LOL! I had to laugh about Elvis!
And your Locals look a lot different than our locals...probably cause we are in corn country and they are corn fed...LOL!
We usually go over the Tappan Zee. It's a little out of the way, but you don't end up trapped in New York. FWIW.
