Happy Easter!

Happy Easter morning! We have a quiet day planned. Hopefully I can get in a little stitching today. I picked up and put down any number of projects this week, but I couldn't settle until late week, when I did some work on this. It doesn't look like a lot of progress, but the over-one verse takes longer. So do the bullet-hole stitches, as I call them (the green letter on the lower left). This is Janet Gibson's Scottish Swan, by the way. I'm working my way down towards the house and the swan. The swan is to be filled in with buttonhole stitch, so I'm eager to learn it and then get it behind me.

This was peak cherry blossom week in DC, and the streets were overflowing with tourists. I go visit the trees every 2nd or 3rd year--I don't like crowds--since my office is only about six blocks from the Tidal Basin. This year the weather was warm, so it was a nice walk.

The Washington Monument, wearing a tutu:

A different view of the Washington Monument, with the Cherry Blossom Porta Potties (CBPPs) in the foreground. I'm showing you this because you can see the blossoms floating in the breeze. Whenever there'd be a good puff, everyone would sort of sigh in unison and say "ahhhhhh....snow!" It was pretty funny to hear that every time there was a new breeze.

This may give you an idea of the crowds. Everyone who marches in the wall to wall volksmarch around the tidal basin seems to plop down at the Jefferson Memorial to contemplate the water, the blossoms and the beautiful day. This shot was taken from my firm's roof deck.

Here's the Easter Bunny, catching a snooze.
Pink: "I was up late delivering candy and eggs!"
Pink, Peaches, Elvis and I want to wish you a happy Easter. For fun, go here to see the 4th Annual Peeps diorama contest from the Washington Post. The contest is called "Peeps Show." As always, the entries are so clever.

Happy week ahead!

Happy Easter, Glenna! Unless I"ve been doing the wrong thing on Janet Gibson, I believe the swan is cross over one. It's the sheep that are in detached buttonhole. :D Janet is looking good!

Say Happy Easter to the little Easter bunnies in your house.

Happiest of Easters for you, Glenna, even if it is a quiet one! Treat your lil bunny friends extra special today!

Your Janet Gibson stitch is gorgeous, I'm not sure I could tackle a project with so many stitches but really look foward to seeing the final finish.
WOW! Your pics of the Cherry Blossom Treems are so sweet and the floating blossoms are very pretty - even though I was not there there's a loud ahhhhhh coming from this end xx

Thanks for the pictures Glenna; those cherry blossoms are sure gorgeous! I only go every few years too....I really dislike the parking situation in DC. Pink looks like it was a rough night. Happy Easter.

Here's where Audrey is staying right now: http://thebunnylounge.blogspot.com/

She's been checking travel costs, so let her know how to get to you!

Thanks for asking if Audrey would like to come back. I was going to ask if you could send her this way next. We're leaving on vacation on either May 28 or 29, and we'd like to take her with us to West Texas, New Mexico and Colorado. If you can have her here by May 24 or thereabouts, that would be great. She can then spend the summer on the West Coast with Fiona and Lando, and Rabbits4. Fidget might want to host her, too.

Pink must have worked so hard doing all that delivering - she looks plum tuckered out! I love D.C. at cherry blossom time but you're right, the crowds are wicked!
Your stitching is so beautiful and I love your "bullet hole" stitches!

Hoppy Happy scritchy scratchy Easter to all of you too!

When I visited Wash DC there were two places that made me just want to stay there forever. One was the Declaration of Independence and the other was right there at the Jefferson Memorial. Can't seem to explain it.

Hi Glenna, hope you and the buns all had a hoppy Easter! Sorry, I couldn't help myself :)~
Miss Janet is one awesome sampler. Good luck with the swan. I'm not a swan fan, so I tend to replace them with a dog.
As always, loved your photos. Seeing the cherry blossoms is on my bucket list.

What wonderful progress you are making! The cherry blossoms are so lovely, but the crowds are wicked! I love the 'snow effect' as well - it's quite a sight.

Enjoy your week.

Thanks for sharing! We went to Mt. Vernon last Thursday, but didn't venture into DC - traffic getting home was horrific!

Lord love a duck - you took a pic of the potty johns? LOL Glenna - the blossoms are pinker in your pics than mine. You must have been there when they peaked. I love the view anyway.

Great pictures of Washington. I'd like to see the cherry trees bloom here as well but it was too cold the last days.
I hope you were having a great Easter weekend.

Awww, thanks for the pics, Glenna. I have fond memories of visiting DC often, especially to see the cherry blossoms. My dad was from NYC and driving in busy traffic didn't bother him, so he'd often throw us into the car and head off down I-95 for the day, giving my mother some peace & quiet in the process. Good times, good times. :) Your pics are fantastic!

Your Janet looks GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really need to do that one. Ack.
