6. Charlotte Clayton Sampler

This is Charlotte Clayton, which I purchased several years ago and started on a darker 32 count linen. I later regretted that, because I felt that the fibers (NPI) didn't give good enough coverage over one. I had gotten far enough--a few major motifs--to feel too discouraged to start it again right away. It seems I need a cooling-off period. Now I'm stitching it on 40 count navy bean LL. Even though it's a restart, it feels new; I started it in a new place on the chart, and the color and count of the linen are very different.

Here's what the original sampler looked like, although the designer doesn't show you the stitched reproduction. I wish the designers would show us both versions of a sampler repro. For a really nice completed Charlotte, see Margaret's.

Today's drive-through critter is "Papa Elephant." Still no bunnies where I live, although I am hearing reports of them in other towns in Virginia (Patricia at In Stitches called to report she got one today in Alexandria) and in other parts of the country.

"I'm a little concerned about the toy bunny situation here."

See you tomorrow with another new start!

Oh wow -- I'm loving all your starts! That's such a lovely sampler. Your post on the Gingham Dog and the Calico Cat reminds me I have that piece to do for my BIL. Hmmmmm Wonder where that pattern went......

Starting in a new place and with a new fabric is probably a good way of refreshing interest. Is the bun concern over toy rabbits the lack thereof, or worry about replacement?

Beautiful starts! I so much enjoy reading everyone's blogs and seeing what they started :) Happy stitching!

Very pretty stitching and a cute elephant.

I think you need to take a drive to In Stitches and the McDonald's there.
I love Charlotte C. and I'm sure you'll be much happier stitching her on 40 ct. linen.

Absolutely love Charlotte Clayton! She's on my 'to do someday' list. And heck yeah...restarts count as new! I'll be 'restarting' Dutch Beauty, Frances Eden and ATS....because the linen/thread combo wasn't working for me. Gotta love the process, I say! Stitch On!

OH MY GOSH...I love Charlotte Clayton. Margaret was an inspiration to me too. Mine was finished and framed in 2010. You have some mighty fine starts!! Have fun!

Oh, I love it! Another beauty and another one on my list of Samplers to stitch! It's gorgeous Glenna and I am looking forward following your progress...

And you've got me looking for the elusive bunny now!

Blessings always in stitches...

Whew! I can relax today and not be tempted by your next start. lol! I like the fabric you're using for your Charlotte -- very different look! I'll enjoy watching your progress so i can see the difference. Oh, and I so agree -- I much prefer seeing both the antique and the repro, not just the antique. I hope you find the illusive bunny soon.

My Got but a lot of work. Whew - your poor little fingers.

Not to worry Pink - there is a world-wide search for the Mickey D Bunny so the stress in the household will soon be gone. Too bad you don't still have Audrey.

This one looks great. And as you re-started it in another place and on a different fabric it certainly feels like completely new. Great choice again!

Charlotte is a beauty! Wow, but what a lot of work :o)

I've always admired you, Glenna, but after the comment you left on my blog yesterday, I'm in complete awe. Thank you for doing all of that brainwork for me!

That sampler is just gorgoues and what a great start. I give you credit for starting over, that is something I never do (though I should sometimes). Glad your little animal collection is growing.

I love Charlotte! She is definately in in the kitted up selections (not one of my January starts though, too bad!) I love the navy bean too. Love watching your starts. Thanks to you, I now own Sarah McPhail. I appreciate it, she is gorgeous!!!!

Hi Glenna!

I love all your starts! Winter at Beacon House is my favorite though! I've got that one in my stash.

A few years back McD's was doing the Madame Alexander dolls and I did the same thing you're doing with the stuffed animals. Now I have them and don't know what to do with them! Good luck finding the elusive bunny.

In regards to the Erica Michaels charts, try one on 40 count fabric instead. You can just pop it in your q-snap then!

Loving your restart on Catherine! I really want to stitch this one. Of course I'd have to figure where to get the chart from first though.

I mean Charlotte - not Catherine - too many C names, apparently!!
