Happy Post-Christmas

Our Christms day was relaxing and fun. We made a new friend (my sister's new dog, rescued from an abuse/hoarder situation). He's a dear thing, but so scared.

We ate ourselves silly in a kind of potluck, casual meal. Here: shrimp, pupusas and tamales.

Crab melt-aways (edited to add recipe: 1/2 pound of blue crab meat--I used backfin so that it doesn't take fishy; 2 tblsp. of mayonnaise; 1 stick of butter; 1 5 oz. jar of Kraft Old English cheese; 1 tsp. of seasoning salt (like Lawry's). Mix thoroughly with a hand mixer until well blended into a paste. Spread thickly on halved/quartered English muffins and then freeze. (Freezing is an important step, even if it's just an hour or so.) Take out of the freezer and cook under the broiler until puffy and golden brown.)

Sugar plums? No, caramel (and everything else) apples from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory:

I have managed some stitching. This is Christinia Cathcart. I don't love the 32 count linen, but I'm not restarting it now. I do like the colors (AVAS). I can see a finish in my not-so-distant future.

And a closeup of the section I'm working on. Because of this and so many other WIPs, I'm modifying my "15 New Things" to maybe "3 New Things." I'm planning to go to In Stitches' pajama sale event tomorrow, if the weather cooperates--I'm not up for icy roads. Thank you, everyone, for your well wishes after my flu/accident/job situation. For now, I'm going to stay home with a long list of to-do items: clean the house and do some painting and sprucing up which I never had time for while I was working; finish up some courses toward qualifying for the CPA; exercise and lose some weight; and stitch my butt off!

The gang says "phew, we're glad the hustle-bustle is over!"

Happy week ahead!

MMMMmmmm! The food looks awesome - the tamales look SO good and I LOVE crab meltaways - make them all the time!
Love your progress pic - sorry you're not liking the linen but it looks lovely!

Sounds like you have big plans to get lots done - YGG!

All that food looks so wonderful. I'm a huge fan of tamales, but don't eat them that often.

I think your sampler looks wonderful, but I understand that it's probably not fun stitching on fabric you don't love. I'm kind of like that with Frances Eden. But your sampler really looks great so hopefully it won't bother you too much!

Yum Glenna, that food looks very enticing, I am sure it was enjoyed! I am so sorry to read that you have been so ill and with bad luck attached...I hope that your 2011 is MUCHO better, dear one!

My MIL has two rescued puppies and they are a lot of work but so, so sweet. Glad your sister's new dog has a good home :-).

Yummy food and cute bunnies, hope you had a merry, merry Christmas.

Forgot to say, love, love, love Christina!!!!

Your Christmas dinner looks yummy -- gotta try the crab thingies, they sound (and look) delicious!

Christina is looking great! I love the colors. I feel your pain about stitching on a fabric you don't love; I have a WIP that I wish I'd done on something else and I don't stitch on it very often for that reason. But I've done too much on it to re-start :-/

Sounds like you have some good plans made -- you go!

The food is making me hungry! I've never had tamales nor crab meltaways. They look so yummy.

Christina is looking great and I bet it's like a ray of sunshine in the cold dark winter!

I agree with the gang and am glad the hustle & bustle is over.

Have fun at the sale tomorrow, you lucky girl!

Hey Glenna, your feast looks DELICIOUS! We are big fans of anything from the seas, lakes, and rivers. :) After so many years away, traditional fare (= turkey) feels pretty exotic, so that's what we've indulged in ... but I think we'll try something else for Easter. ;)
Wonderful stitching progress!

Oh dear! Came to see the crab melt aways (must try those soon!) and read about your accident and feeling so bad.

You stich beautifully. 32 count? How can you see it?

Sweet bun picture all together like that. I wonder what would happen if we tried that here?

Take care and feel better soon.

So glad your sister adopted the cute dog! He looks so sweet.

Your food looks delicious. I love anything with crab.

The colors in Christina are really pretty. If I don't like fabric, it's really hard to finish a project.

Great to-do list!

Crab melt-aways coming up soon!

Great shot of the bunns - yes, we would have fur flying if we tried it.

Stitch your butt off? Crazy way to lose weight.
