Odds and Ends and Nearly the End

First of all, thank you so much, Terri! Terri made this wonderful scissor fob to commemorate the Sail Away stitch-along. As you can see, I'm running behind and haven't been stitching along since the first week. So don't feel bad, Terri--you're not the only one! Being the slightly superstitious sort, I slid it into my pencil case before I attached it to my scissors and toted it along to school for finals yesterday, especially since the turtle is U. of Maryland's mascot.

Unfortunately the finals weren't really final--we have a couple of days left to submit projects and homework. I'm ready for it to be over. Then I have three weeks off until fall semester. I have several things planned for early fall including a trip to Cape Cod, very likely a visit to the Brimfield Antique Show in Western Massachusetts on the first day, which is when they hold the Antique Textile Show, and a trip to South Carolina in October.

I've picked up and put down various projects since my last post, not really being able to decide on one to stick with. I'm tired for one thing. For another, I'm doing lots of alphabets on various samplers (the problem with starting at the top left means you generally hit the alphabets first), and I want to frog out the colors other than pink in Sarah Spence below. After seeing everyone's Mary Wigham, I think that doing the sampler in one color is gorgeous.

I fiddled with this a little. It's a Tristan Brooks design called "Colonial Seasons." I'm doing it on 45 ct with one strand of DMC over 2. It's a daylight-only project, I think. I'm contemplating doing all four seasons in a vertical row, but I'll see if I really want to do that after the first one. The penny gives the relative size, or serves as a satellite dish on the house.

Pink and Elvis are discussing a bunny they heard about from our friend, Patti, who runs a bunny rescue called Bright Eyes Sanctuary. Possibly upsetting picture follows--end here if you don't want to see it.

Patti has named this little girl Glenna Bunny. G-Bun was a throwaway and something terrible happened to her ears while she was on the loose. She will be undergoing surgery; she has an abscess. I would take her in but BF informs me that the pet hotel is full. Fair enough--we have 9 furry pets. And there's always one more in dire need. So we'll have to settle for giving a little financial support. Patti says she's a calm, sweet bunny in spite of what she's been through. If you would like to donate, please follow the link.

Oh poor bunny! At least she's in good hands now....

Your progress on SA is great! And so is the little fob Terri made you, it's very pretty!

Sweet girl, I hope she finds a loving home. I was actually glad to hear that her ears were lost to natural causes not some horrible human induced torture.....I am getting skewed.....

What a beautiful girl Glenna is. Whe have 2 girls at the rescue missing most of their ears. When they were babies, momma got over zealous with ear cleaning and nibbled off most of the ears on two of her babies. I have never seen anything like it. I hope Miss Glenna will heal well.

To make a scissor fob to remember an SAl is such a neat idea. You will always have to think of the Sail Away SAL when you use the fob.
I love your new project. It's a wonderful chart.

Wasn't Terri so generous to make those fobs for us SALers? I was just floored when mine came! Love your Tristan Brookes progress -- how do you like the 45ct? Those will be wonderful! Poor Glenna bunny! I hope she comes through ok!

I really like your idea of doing the sampler in one color. It's going to have such a great simplicity to it and will look so beautiful when done.

And those Seasons - oh my goodness are you a brave soul to be doing those on 45 count, but they are going to look so wonderful when they're finished.

And I do love your bunnies - so previous!

Poor, poor little bunny. Please keep us all updated on how she is doing.

Terri is such a sweetheart - the fob is just darling.

I really like the Colonial Seasons - you always tempt me with your wonderful projects :-)

Is school over? How was your final on Saturday?

Have a great week.

That poor sweet rabbit. That is heartbreaking. I hope she finds a home and gets better.

What a sweet fob! I like your progress on your wips. I find that when I am tired or stressed, I can't seem to focus on any one project for very long. Hopefully you will get to rest a little before the fall semester starts.

Hope you have a great week.

Great progress on everything, and those season samplers are just.way.pretty.must.have.

That poor lil bunny, I know she will get the loving care she deserves.

Well said .. there is always another rescue waiting to happen ... we can only do so much and knowing one's limits is important. We have seen a few people who tried to take too many and they and the bunns all suffered greatly.

Great shot of Elvis and Pink ... gives me an idea .....

poor little rabbit! humans can be so stupid and so cruel. I hope she survives her surgery and makes a full recovery and finds a forever home.

All your works-in-progress are lovely. I'm not sure i could work in one strand on 45 anymore...doggone bifocals!

Awww, poor little Glenna Bunny! It physically hurts me to think of somebody being cruel to animals. I just hope she is okay & finds a loving home.

Great progress on your stitching! ROFLOL at the satellite dish. ;)

Hope your exams go well and that the final projects go quickly so that you can enjoy the rest of your summer and the fun plans you have!

Sending out hugs to G-Bun. I always want to take those little ones in...but the motel is full here too. Love the fob. And I know what you mean on those Quaker pieces - I love the multi-colored ones, but the one-color ones are stunning too - decisions, decisions!

Oh poor bunny! It is hard when you want to fix them all, but really can't take them all.....

I love your new fob - what a great gift to make you feel like part of a special group! I love your new start - so delicate (except for the giant satellite....)

Poor G-bunny, I hope she pulls through. Thanks for providing the link for her.
That's a really pretty scissor fob. How good you are to take on 45 count, but Colonial Seasons seems well worth it. I can't believe how small it is, your poor eyes will get a work out.
