Pink Elephants

So that resolution ("I won't start a new Quaker until I finish my old Quaker.") lasted less than 48 hours. Liar, liar, pants on fire. Hah! So here's Sarah Spence, all rosy and started. I've put the 991bb NPI on the fabric so you can see the subtle pink of the fabric against the stark white. When I picked up the AVAS colors yesterday at Everything Cross Stitch, the floss toss didn't look right, I decided to switch to 32 ct Lakeside Attic Lace, and while that looked a lot better, one strand of silk wasn't enough coverage, and two strands was bunchy-looking, so I switched back to the Porcelain with one strand over 2, so I'm going to substitute colors as I go along. This should be fun!

I did some more on Dorothy this week--another girly pink sampler.

And a new feature: Summer Sunday Cocktail. When I was a kid, my dad was always making rob roys and manhattans and tom collinses in the summer, and there was always a shirley temple or a sip of the real thing for my sister and me. A few years ago we decided to institute an occasional cocktail hour and bought the stuff: shaker and stirrers and various liquors and some proper glasses, but we never did much with it. So today I went into the cabinet and poked around, then blew the dust off the bottles and bought some limes and cranberry juice to make this cosmopolitan. (Vodka, cointreau, lime juice and cranberry.) Mmmmm--vitamin C. BF said it is a girly drink and too sweet (I rubbed the lime wheel along the glass, then rubbed the rim in pink sugar). I think Dorothy and Sarah would like it just fine.

Pink, but not an elephant.
"Lush."

Cheers, all.

I am liking Sara on the porcelain. I bought some of that fabric because it looked so yummy. What is the sampler Dorothy? Colors are gorgeous. Look forward to stitching along with you on Sail Away. Marjo

Refreshing looking ... but sort of girlie!

Now the bunns there ... I think they totally approve of a caretaker who starts one thing and then another without finishing the first - especially if it involves banananananas!!

What a great idea to institute those Sunday cocktails! They sound yummy even if I can't drink 'em!

Have fun stitching in the pinks!

Now that my daughter is finally "of age" .....ahem....boy do I feel old!....I feel free-er to imbibe adult beverages. I'm going to have to pull out a bartenders book and go to town!
Love all your WIPS!

After a little more than a week with all the kids home, one of whom has been sick and one of whom is totally unable to hear anything I say, I am very ready to institute cocktail hour in our home. LOL. ;)

Your stitching looks fabulous - such lovely colors!

I would think Pink would approve! Your pInk concoction has such a lovely color gradient going on towards the bottom of the glass. So I guess BF didn't drink his?

We keep your picture of the group snorgle in our minds during the bonding process........

I love Pink! He is such a cool bun :)
We do not do cocktails and in general drink little alcoholic stuff, but every now and then a G&T with and adequate number of ice cubes and a slice of lemon is just my thing :)

Oh that cocktail looks delicious Glenna! Yummmm! I'm not much for the taste of alcohol so a sweet drink like that sounds good to me. It's hard for me sometimes too finding just the right combo of fabric and threads to get the coverage right. I have to read more in your blog and find out wht the full name of "Dorothy" is - it's beautiful!

Love the pink theme of this post... I think I need a sip (or 50) of your cosmo, lol!

Dorothy is looking wonderful. Makes me think I really should start it. I just loove the colors - and your pic do it way more justice than the sample pic on the front of the pattern!

Have a great week!

I'll change into something pink and be right over. We'll have one of those pretty cocktails and sit on your deck. I'll have to share my low calorie way of making margaritas with you. Hint: we used Crystal Light pink grapefruit!

Love this post - and all the pink. I need to get Dorothy back out. I want to get to those butterflies! You may not have seen, but on my cozystyle blog I've been doing a Sunday Night Cocktail post too for awhile. Isn't it fun to see what you can come up with from the on-hand selection. Love Cosmos - and this one is so pretty!
