Pucker Up

A little Friday evening post. First of all, thank you for your well wishes for Yazziebear. She's home with us now with the best possible diagnosis. She has extreme hyperthyroidism, which could have caused her problems, or at least augmented a bacterial or viral infection. She went to a specialist for a sonogram who said she doesn't appear to have cancer. Now it's just a matter of treating her with pills or, should the pills be burdensome, having her treated with radioisotope iodine (same thing they do for humans), after which she becomes briefly radioactive. Yazziebear: "I always knew I was hot!"

We took her to the specialist yesterday and there was a lot of waiting, so I got a lot done on Christinia.

The puckery-looking eyelet stitch is slow going, but a blast to do. They look like little silk-lined bullet holes. Or puckered lips.

It has rained for a solid week here, but it's supposed to be nice tomorrow and Sunday. I have some more planting to do; here's a raspberry bush that I bought. No doubt the birds will eat the berries before we do, but it's fun to think about maybe making raspberry jam from our own bushes.

Here's Pink with a little kiss for you. "Pucker up!"

I'm off to tidy up a few things and then settle onto the bed with a most grateful to be home Yazziebear and my stitching. Happy weekend, all!

Oh wow! I went through the same thing as Yazziebear! Radioactive iodine and all. That should make things much better -- I'm so glad it wasn't cancer or something worse! Yay! Nice progress on your WIP. And I love little Pink's nose. :D

I love this sampler very much. But eyelest are always slow-going like some more of those specialty stitches. But they are worth this effort.

Wonderful progress, Glenna. Puckered lips is a perfect description, too. So glad to hear that Yazziebear isn't as bad as she could have been. Better get to those berries, they look yummy.

I am so glad the diagnosis is a "good" one! Our pets can be almost like our babies and it's so hard to see them unwell, isn't it? Christina is looking wonderful!! Thanks for your comment on my post. Enjoy the weather this weekend to the fullest - we're in for another 7 days of rain... would you like to go in with me on some wood for an ark? LOL!

I'm glad Yazziebear is home and has a diagnosis, but I don't envy you having to pill a cat! =Yikes!=

Your sampler is looking great!

Hi Glenna. I'm so glad that Yazziebear's diagnosis is "only" hyperthyroidism. My Lesley had it and i tried pilling her, but she rapidly started running away from me every time i approached her because she thought i was going to pill her. (They now make tapazole in a transdermic form where you can rub it on the skin inside their ears...she might have tolerated that.) So i took her to "Radiocat" and the treatment was very easy for her (at age 13)and she did great afterwards...lived another 3 years until sarcoma did her in. My Gingy arrived here with raging LUTD--and undiagnosed hyperthyroidism. She was hard to pill, so i ordered the tapazole from a compounding pharmacy...they made it taste like tuna, which she liked. Unfortunately, she became allergic to the tapazole! (her skin got very red and she was constantly itching her face) So i took her to Radiocat too. She was a very good girl on the drive there (Springfield), and home, and has done great! So best of luck to you and Yazziebear!
