Full House

Hi, everyone!

My banner photo is a little something I ran across when I was looking through my stash for the bag of floss for Dorothy Walpole. I haven't been able to work on Dorothy for a few months since it disappeared. My stash room is in serious disarray, so I took some time to straighten and look through my stuff, and this little gem appeared. I probably stitched it something like 25 years ago, and yes, that's cream colored 14 count aida and DMC. My initials are different now--I shed that "T"--but it's an argument for signing and dating our works, since I'd love to know what year I finished it. Who knows where the chart came from, although I suspect I stitched it from a magazine. All the same, I think I'll take it to In Stitches to frame. It's not as if I finish that many things! All of which leads me to muse on the Woodlawn show coming up in March. Framing is due for that in mid-January, so I've decided that maybe if I set a goal of entering one project (preferably two) in the show, maybe I can finish a couple of things before the year is out. (Let's not talk about the Crazy 15 challenge, shall we?)

My two would be: The Essamplaire's Liz Easdon and Scarlet Letter's Dorothy Walpole. As you can see, I found Dorothy's floss and made some progress working on the flame stitch, the strawberry border and the flowers beneath the flame stitch.

Here she is in her entirety so far (forgive the crookedness and the wrinkles; I try to limit my ironing of projects--too many horrible things can happen):

And here's Liz Easdon with her house complete. There's lots more to stitch, of course. While she'd be easier to finish than Dorothy, there's an awful lot of green in this sampler. Visually it's lovely, but it does get tiresome to work look at as I stitch.

All this dedication to finishing a couple of things means I'm going to have to cut down on new starts, though. Hmmmmm. That's going to be tough, especially since I picked up a couple of new projects at Market Night, including this needlepoint canvas. Something about it spoke to me, you know? (And we won't mention the brand-new Scarlet Letter chart I've ordered...)

"Ahem. You are going to stitch a yellow rabbit?"

Happy week ahead!

All so gorgeous!! Argh! The colors on Dorothy are just wonderful! Liz is wonderful too of course. Love that needlepoint canvas too. Wow! I think you should just stitch what makes you happy and not worry over the small details. :D Glad you found Dorothy's floss. Love that header piece too -- so sweet!

Wow everything looks great. And girl I know what you mean about finding the odd aida piece floating around. Aren't the fun to look at and moan about :-)

Oh my goodness!! What gorgeous projects. I love your 'old' stitching, too--it's fun to see how taste changes as time moves on. Good luck with your goal for submitting two things to the show--I am eager to watch your progress!

Dorothy is just beautiful. The colors are wonderful. I love greens, so your Liz is perfect.

Maybe Pink would be OK with you stitching the small white rabbits yellow in exchange for making the big rabbit white.

There's just no pleasing some bunnies. You could be stitching another colonial house and flowers.

That needlepoint canvas is great. What a wonderful rabbit! Samplers are inspiring as always. Glad to hear I'm not the only one whose projects disappear. Hope the kids are getting along better.

Oh wow! Dorothy is so pretty in all her colours! Liz is too though she hasn't had a chance to show than the tree and the house!

That needlepoint canvas - it's very reminiscent of Birds of a Feather design. Is it? It's very nice.

BTW, I like the pot of geraniums in your header!

Yellow bunny?

I can definitely see why you went for the needlepoint canvas. It's so cute. And your two pieces - what can I say! They're just beautiful. Dorothy is brighter than I thought she would be but just wonderful. Glad that you found the floss for her. I hope that you get both of your pieces done for the show.

Love the new header and love that needlepoint canvas. Yup, you definitely have to start that one soon.
I'm so glad you found the missing Dorothy W. threads. I am really enjoying stitching on my Dorothy... the colors are perfect for a summer stitch.
Liz is looking good too... but I hear you on all the green.

Beautiful stitching. I love the colors. Glad you found your threads-I wasted a whole evening and dismantled a whole room searching for missing threads.

Did that stitching on a cross-country run in an 18 Wheeler, didn't you! BL once crocheted an entire huge afghan on a cross-country drive!

Pink will be OK with a yellow rabbit .. right Pink????

If you finish two projects by January you will be one ahead of me (and probably quite a few other fans too!)

lovely stitching projects, specially the rabbit!

All of your projects are just so perfect and beautiful I could weep. I wish I had your ability to move from one band of a sampler to the next without finishing those bands first. OCD, I guess...

Sorry, Glenna-bunnies, but I think that yellow rabbit is gorgeous!

Everything is so beautiful!!!! Love, love, love Dorothy and Liz :-). Cute canvas too, a nice buttery yellow for the background would be so pretty and do the rabbit and outlines in a very pretty red...

Cute find too!!!! My DH always fusses at me to be sure I put my initials and the year on everything.

All of your stitching is beautiful Glenna! You pick the prettiest samplers to do, and I love your older piece just as much! Pretty bunnies - both the needlepoint canvas and the real thing!

You always have the most gorgeous projects being worked and on line, as well.

Good luck on finishing your two for the Woodlawn show - that would be wonderful!

The bunny canvas couldn't be more perfect!

It's always great to dig out those old projects and let them see the light of day Glenna- congrats! I love both of your WIP samplers...good goal for you to aim for the show next year. (I would never make it LOL).

Cute bunny, wonder if you plan to stitch it on that color - it really shows up well.

Beautiful work Glenna. I look forward to seeing them at Woodlawn. Love the yellow rabbit, even if Pink doesn't. Thanks too for the show postings on the shop blog; it was nice to see the new things.

Very pretty stitching, Glenna! And it's great that you've decided to enter pieces in the Woodland show.

I love the yellow bunny canvas. It will be very cute when finished.

Both samplers are so lovely (I'm so glad you found Dorothy!!!). They would both be perfect to enter. The needlepoint canvas is great - good choice! And do tell what you've ordered from Scarlet Letter.

I love Dorothy! It has been on my wish list for awhile. Your looks so great, maybe I will ask for it for my birthday!

It is fun to look at onlder projects and see how our tastes and skills have changed.

I love your Liz Easdon and Dorothy Walpole. I love the house but I can see how working on that would be somewhat tedious. That is an interesting needlepoint canvas you got, that will be fun to watch you stitch.
