Teach Me

It's hard to believe that although I stitched a lot this week, I made so little progress. Except it isn't just a little progress when it's over-one, is it? Ann Smith:

The letters are full cross, and the clouds/border area are tent stitch. Speaking of "teach me," I'm happily anticipating taking a knitting/stitching/sewing/crochet class or two this fall. My job is consuming enough mentally that I've decided not to take college classes this semester--it's just too much. Since I find taking hobby classes so rewarding, relaxing and fun, I'm weighing what to take. My funds are limited for this, and I know I also need to allot the time to follow through on the projects, so I'm trying to decide: G Street Fabrics, which has so many sewing classes, from tailoring, quilting, pattern making, fabric dyeing, beading and couture sewing (including french hand sewing of lingerie), crochet and home dec? How about the Yarn Lounge in Richmond, for knitting classes of all kinds (be sure to check out their blog where they show customers' projects on FO Friday? Perhaps needlepoint lessons at In Stitches in the fall? They have a huge needlepoint canvas of Washington, DC that I've been eyeing on the last few visits. The only problem is that I don't needlepoint. Well, maybe I should learn! I'm so looking forward to taking a class that doesn't require 20 hours of dreary book work each week--but instead, maybe requires a few hours of stitching, knitting or sewing.

What to do on a hot, boring Sunday:

Peaches: "Or go visit Augustus!"

I'm off to barbecue some chicken and make a big salad out of some of our tomato crop! (Audrey, helping with the tomato crop.)

Happy week ahead!

Oh I envy you your choices!!!! I would like to take a quilting class - when my children are older I have big plans! Have fun choosing. Your over one stitching looks really great - what a lot of work, no?

Ann Smith is just gorgeous! Is there tons of over one? It does go slowly, doesn't it. But it's worth it! As for your choice of classes -- what a wealth of wonderful things to choose from!! You are lucky! I bet you'll love whatever you choose.

Ann is a stunning piece! Love the colors.

You are very lucky to have so many choices for classes. You'll have to let us know what you decide!

Your Ann Smith looks fabulous. Over one can be slow... but it looks so wonderful on the sampler.
I hate having so many choices... it makes it hard to focus on just one or two classes. Let us know what you decide.

Those craft classes sound fun. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.

Nice to see Audrey again! It's very kind of her to help with your tomatoes, but she's probably wondering why you didn't plant carrots.

Your sampler is beautiful, and any amount is an accomplishment! It sounds like you have a lot of fun choices for a class. Whatever you choose keep us posted and share your projects!

Enjoy those tomatoes. There is nothing like fresh produce, especially home grown!

What fun!!!! I would probably vote for quilting or knitting but that's me. Actually my first choice would be through rug hooking, LOL.

Ann is gorgeous!!!!

Ann Smith looks fantastic! What a great bunch of classes to choose from. :) It would be a hard choice for me too as I love all of those hobbies. I have recently learned to knit and it is consuming all of my stitching time. I love it though... very relaxing when all the stitches are staying on the needles as they should. :) Make sure and let us know what you decide.

Crafty classes sound GREAT, Glenna!

Your tomatoes look fabulous. We've had one out of our garden so far. Actually our garden was far too shady and I've been giving the plants to the chickens, who like them very much. ;)

That's a lot of progress I'd say considering the fact that it's over one!
Crafty classes sound so delightful.

Beautiful stitching. I would go with knitting or stitching. I always thought that G Street's prices for classes were very high. Enjoy whatever it is you choose and tell us all about it!

The colors in this sampler are just wonderful. You always pick the best ones to work on.

And you have such a great variety of classes that you can take. What will you do first??

Best wishes!!
