Aftermath - What a Difference a Day Makes

From my deck: 3:00 p.m. This cracks me up. With the exception of the little bit of ice by the grill wheels, you'd never know there had been anything on the deck. And the shadow on the snow makes the background in this photo look like blue sky--as if a step off the deck would drop you down the side of a mountain. In fact we still have lots of snow, but we also have lots of sunshine. Three men came to the door and asked if we'd like our driveway shoveled. Why, yes, we would! And our sidewalks, decks and the entryway to the basement as well. We paid happily and high-fived each other because we would have spent a good part of the day shoveling and the snow is heavy!

I spent that found time working on a new project (and I haven't finished "July," although all that's left are the "quilt" stars at the bottom and the brown border. Here it is around noon.

I did some chores and came back to it: here it is around 7:00 p.m. It's "Rose Marie" by Blackberry Designs. I'm stitching with DMC on (I think) 34 count Legacy in a cream color. I'm hoping to finish it as an ornament before Christmas, although that calls for a trip to JoAnn's for backing fabric.

I should have put up the Christmas tree today, but I just can't bring myself to do it. The problem is that I want something different--not the same old artificial tree that we've used for years. So we're going to go out tomorrow and see what we can find. I'm hoping to find a nice cut tree. We'll see. I'd rather have almost anything--a palm tree perhaps, or a live tree with a rootball to plant later. Poor BF is just glad to be getting out of the house; I don't think he minds a trip to the plant store or my waffling.

Here's Elvis right after we adopted him two years ago, exploring. This is before he and Pink could be in the same room together because they'd fight.

Happy week ahead!

Glad you are all OK! and haven't had to shovel snow. Elvis is so Elvis, even fro the back. Givehima kiss from Rabbits3. I've used a Ficus as a Christmas tree for years, it doesn't seem to mind.

Yay! So nice to have someone come knocking and shovel so nicely for you! We have a snow blower, thank goodness. Where we live it's a necessity. But we didn't get more than 2 or 3 inches. lol! I love your new start -- so pretty! And Elvis -- that's so cute, I love it! (I love his name too, btw. My son is currently very into Elvis, along with the Beach Boys and the Beatles.)

Yay that you didn't have to shovel snow! You probably did a good deed as well, since no one goes door to door asking to shovel snow unless they need money badly.

That's a cute pic of Elvis. Bunnies are so curious about everything.

Looks like Pink back there in a sack!

Quite the climate change there. Man, those politicians can work wonders! Yay Barack!

Your's melted a little quicker than ours - our deck is still covered. I am hoping to venture out this afternoon or maybe tomorrow. I am being over cautious with my leg!

I hope you figure out your tree dilemma.

Love your new project - such beautiful colors.

Isn't Elvis just too cute!

Merry Christmas, Glenna!

I'd love a huge snowfall like that but I sure wouldn't want to have shovel it all!

You must live near me! My deck looked a lot like yours.... still does actually. My dh was away and I only just managed to dig out the driveway and a small path for my dog to get to the yard. I usually like living in VA because y'all don't get the snow I used to have to deal with in Canada. What is with that? Your bunnies are too precious!

you guys really lucked out with the snow shovellers...i spent a total of 4 1/2 hours shovelling my driveway...about another half hour for front and back steps, path to driveway, etc. I would have loved to have had someone come by to offer their services! My two neighbors who i would have asked for help were busy out in their trucks helping other people. Great that you had unexpected free time for more stitching!
