I can't tell you how excited I am that this semester is winding down. This is the big weekend for schoolwork with a research project, interim exam and heavy homework. After this, it pretty much fizzles out except for finals. That's odd, but it's most welcome, because it means I can turn my thoughts to the holidays: at Thanksgiving it's just the two of us this year, and we can actually plan to do something fun that weekend since I won't have to fret over a school assignment. (I'm planning on a Thanksgiving weekend needlework start--see details below).
In spite of everything, I picked up Plymouth Sampler a bit this week:
And started The Squirrel. The designer suggests stitching it over 1 on 40 ct. Instead I'm using 45 ct Legacy Linen from my stash [edited to add: and stitching over 2]. It's hard to photograph because it's so small and my hands have a bit of a caffeine shake.
I was going to start Squirrel at Thanksgiving, but then I saw this at 123stitch. I don't normally stitch Christmas-specific projects (although I'll be working on Christmas at HRH for the next year or so), but I thought this might be fun to try. It's a Mill Hill kit called Winter Wonderland. You can't go wrong with something that has tons of beads AND a white-bunny button! (I also bought the little frame--together they were very affordable!) Speaking of beads and buttons, I picked up the Nora Corbett Christmas Tree kit at In Stitches when I was last there. I concluded it would take me too long to do, so I put it back, but I'm severely tempted...the colors of the CC threads and all the different beads are so much nicer IRL. If you're contemplating it and have only seen it online, go for it! Oh, and speaking of In Stitches, they have sold out of Sarah Salter now.
To show you how one thing leads to another, when I was searching for the picture to show you of the Mill Hill kit, I put "Winter Wonderland" in the search engine, and this picture popped up. I'm a huge Papillon Creations fan, having just finished Alphabetsissimo, and I know their photos don't begin to do the projects justice, so I'm convinced this will be just gorgeous. For one thing, there is the option of doing the little snowflakes in bead clusters. I ordered it from ABCstitch.
So what should I start on Thanksgiving, hmmmmm?
Pink says white-bunny buttons aren't nearly as good as the real thing, and if you lean close to the screen he'll give you a little pink kiss to see you through the week.
Happy week ahead.

Oh, Pink looks so sweet!
Your Plymouth Sampler is coming along beautifully! You must be so excited at the upcoming prospects of time off/a break to do some stitching and just other 'stuff'!
I just started Sarah Salter, and borrowed your photo. Hope you don't mind but I did mention your blog!
Have a great week!
Hi! Sorry I haven't visited in quite a while! Lovely work and yea for the school wind down! Thanks to Pink for the sweet bunny kiss.
That's a tough choice for your T-day stitching start!
Give Pink a wet one back for me! ;^)
I agree with Pink! Much cuter than a button any day! You're making progress on your Plymouth Sampler despite all your school work. Congrats!
Mmmm, bunny kisses! Rabbits have really cute lips.
123 stitch is DANGEROUS. One thing leads to another and another and another.
Ooo, the squirrel! I was hoping you'd start it soon. You've made great progress already.
I don't know how you do everything, Glenna. Going to school is more then a full-time job itself.
I think you have plenty to choose from ;) And all are prettier than the next! That'll be a hard choice :)
Little Pink...what a darling!
I am really loving your Plymouth Sampler...I may have to hunt it down one of these days ;) Love that pic of Pink.
Enjoy your stitching time during Thanksgiving!!!
I adore seeing pictures of the bunnies. Elvis hasn't made an appearance in awhile. :)
I called In Stitches, and unfortunately, I wasn't one of the lucky ones. I will stitch it vicariously through you. :) You have made quite a bit of progress on Plymouth Sampler. It looks great. I really like both of the new starts you are contemplating. Thanksgiving weekend is a long weekend...why not start both? :) Good luck with your school projects this weekend. Glad it is winding down for you for awhile.
That has got to be the most adorable picture of Pink I've ever seen!!! I'll take his pink bunny kisses any day. :D I love that Mill Hill kit piece! And your Plymouth Sampler is looking good too. The squirrel too -- it has a lot of color changes, yes? Maybe it's a good thing I passed it up -- I hate tons of color changes in a small space. :D I say you should go for the Mill Hill piece for Thanksgiving, but that's just me. :D I love the white snowy trees and the bunny button. Of course, the bunny button isn't half as cute as Pink. Pink is right on that count!
Glenna, your Plymouth Sampler is looking great - I love the border! I'm glad you'll have a class-free Thanksgiving that you can enjoy. Good luck deciding what to stitch for T-giving. Tell Pink thank you!
Hi, Pink! I'm sure the adorable bunny in Winter Wonderland is meant to be you!
Pink is so adorable. I just love your Plymouth Sampler. The colors are really so nice! You must be so happy to see some down time in the near future - lots of time for stitching.
That bunny nose is too cute!!!
Tanya
oh Pink, here's a kiss from me!
Lovely lovely stitching projects...
Pink is such a cutie!
Oh Glenna, your Plymouth Sampler is beautiful! And the squirrel on 45 ct - WOW!
You always choose such beautiful pieces to stitch.
Several years ago, my husband and I did a T-day,just the two of us. We spent it in D.C. - it was really a fun weekend - very laid back and quiet. We had our turkey dinner at a restaurant on Rhode Island - it was a wonderful meal - no cooking or cleaning on my part! Of course, our families were none to happy with us - how could we opt to spent it alone and not with any of them :-)
Oh, thank you Pink! I needed a little bunny kiss. :)
Stitcher, stitcher, stitcher! Pink does have the cutiest lips, MUAHHHH.
Aggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh .. we are all in love with PINK!
So glad to see you posting progress on Plymouth Sampler Glenna. I started it last year but then it sat and sat. I recently picked it up again but those borders are killing me! I am not even done with the top one yet. I think maybe taking a break from them and starting a house like you did would help break the monotony. This pattern has more stitching than you would think as it is mostly solid. Love you bunny project - both the stitching and the real thing LOL.
Glenna, I love the progress on your Plymouth Sampler. It's perfect for this time of year! The squirrel, too. I haven't tried 45 ct yet. Don't know if I dare. ;)
Have a great week!
Your Plymouth Sampler is so pretty! I loved it and you know Sarah Salter is one of my favorites. Cute Mill Hill pieces too.
Sounds like a perfect Thanksgiving weekend to me :-).
Nice progress on Plymouth - love the little black cat! I've had that Papillon for a while (not stitched yet), couldn't resist it either when I saw it.
Brenda Keyes' Plymouth Sampler looks terrific, it certainly is fun stitching on it. Very nice proress.
Your finishes are great, congratulations. And I'm looking forward to seeing more of this squirrel. I love squirrels.
Enjoy your free time!
LOL. It seems I can't read properly. Of course, I can, but between looking at the pictures and reading the text and posting my comment there was a phone call. So, right after posting my comment I remembered that the winter pictures weren't finishes but that you were looking at future projects. Lol.
Such wonderful samplers! I just love looking at everything you are doing.
Good luck with school work! Hope you have a great Thanksgiving.
