Cold November Rain

Because today is a government holiday, my commuter bus ran at inconvenient times, and since I had a doctor's appointment in Arlington, I decided to take the day off. Well, of course, my path to Arlington took me past the town where In Stitches sells their goodies, so I had to stop by and see what was new. My pictures aren't all that great, because at 3 p.m. when I took them, it was already sort of getting dark. So here's a commercial photo of Sheepish Designs' Sarah Salter. Don't you dream of stumbling upon a needlework shop that has a bunch of forgotten stuff in a drawer that they put up for sale the day you visit? This is almost as good: original charts, not exactly forgotten, but overlooked by customers because they were on the bottom of the rack perhaps. And for their original price ($5.50), not the inflated ebay prices these designs go for now. Call In Stitches in Alexandria, VA if you want one--they still have a couple left.

Here's my photo. It's charted for AVAS, which I purchased. It's also charted for DMC. I have a nice piece of pinkish 40 ct. Lakeside I've been saving for just such a project.

They had this design, which I'd seen on the 'net. It's tiny and comes with 40 count Lakeside. Note the huge pile of DMC needed to complete it--35 skeins and 1 skein of WDW. I figure the project probably calls for 2-3 stitches in each color. It's done over one. (I'm stitching the squirrel.)

Here's my photo, with floss.

The Plymouth Sampler is working up quickly:

Off I rush to get some stitching in before dinner and homework. Happy day, all!

Great progress on your Sampler! And wow, what a good day at In Stitches. It's always a lot of fun when you come across some undiscovered treasure there! Sarah Salter is a great chart (well, both of them are).

I love how the Plymouth Sampler is turning out! And you really lucked out at In Stitches today! You'll have to let me know how the stitching with over one goes on that piece. I was so tempted to get the same piece at my LNS, but I decided I couldn't face it. lol!

My dear Glenna! I was so surprised to see the Sarah Salter chart because I have mine in front of me and today is when I'm supposed to find the right linen (from my stash) for it. I have my floss all waiting patiently for me to start.

Isn't that great that you found this chart (& others?). I have been slowly collecting Sheepish ones as I've just fallen in love with a bunch of them!

Your progress on Plymouth Sampler is looking very pretty.

Your Plymouth Sampler is coming along beautifully - love that green house!

Sheepish Designs are just delightful and I love Sarah - I'll have to call her in the a.m. and see if she will send me a copy.

Can't wait to see your little squirrel - 38 COLORS?!?

Enjoy the rest of your week, rain and all.

Great stash, Glenna. I love Sarah, have her in my stash and will definitely do her one day. I've got so many projects calling my name but I know when I see your progress, I'll want to do it as well.

Love the squirrel, he'll be amazing when done!

My Grandpa had a place in his basement just with rows and rows of coffee cans - each with different nails, bolts, nuts, etc. Musta had a $bazillion there.

Is this stitching like that? You must have piles/boxes of thread and many many designs and cloths and walls full of completed ones ...

Peaches reminds me .. gotta run to eat.

I love the squirrel! One of the fun things about working for a university is that I spend every day surrounded by nearly-tame squirrels. I know they can be pests, but they're so cute!

Oh, Sarah Salter looks irresistable. (And if I just spelled that wrong, I've only had half a cup of coffee this morning.)

What a great experience it must've been to go into this LNS and find such a treasure!

Good find, Glenna. I love that when it happens. I can't believe some of the prices on EBay. If I were a smart person, I would have bought up every sample back in the day.

Great progress on your Plymouth Sampler! The over one project--eek! It looks fantastic, though. I scored my Sarah Salter chart at In Stitches, too! ;)

Lucky you to make such a wonderful find. If I saw a Sheepish Design chart somewhere in a sales bin I'd buy it immediately.
Love your Plymouth Sampler. Love Brenda Keyes' designs.

I love the squirrel but 36 colors? On that tiny little design? It's going to be sooo cute!

Love Sarah Salter. I am probably reading this too late to score one, but I am going to try calling in the morning anyway. I might get lucky. Plymoth Sampler looks fabulous. That squirrel is going to be exquisite when completed. I don't think I would have the patience, but you will make it beautiful. :)
Have a great weekend!

Great shopping at In Stitches, Glenna. I do like the Sarah Salter design and have it in my stash for someday.

The Blackberry Lane squirrel is precious. It's amazing such a little design takes so many colors, and I'm looking forward to your work on it.
