I am glum today because my vacation is ending and I'm headed back to work tomorrow. There's so much that I didn't have a chance to do! I did stitch some more on Sarah McPhail. I put some stitches into Christmas at Hawk Run Hollow, but not enough to show yet.
On Friday I made it to In Stitches and picked up some threads I needed as well as a few charts. This is "The Governor's Palace," a Williamsburg design by Homespun Samplar. I first saw it on Tanya's blog.
This came as a four-pack of Sampler and Antique Needlework Quarterly magazines. The four magazines had the "old Aviary" series of charts, which I'd like to stitch up some day. I have no immediate plans to do so, but there's no guarantee that the magazines will be available when I'm ready, since they're already a few years old. Of course, I'd like to stitch this cover project as well.
This is a cheery framed model in the store. I don't know if you can tell, but the stuff bubbling out of the pot and the lettering over the pot are sparkly fibers. There's nothing like a framed model to suck you in--I really wanted to get it, but realizing Halloween was only 8 days away made me rethink that.
Diana has a hilarious video of her bunny, Amelia, devouring a pumpkin. Go see it! Inspired by that, I bought our bunnies a pumpkin. No devouring ensued.
"Are you out of your mind? What is that!? Go get the phone so I can call for a pizza!"
Happy week ahead!

Oh Glenna, Sarah is just gorgeous!!!! You got a lot done on her this week! Sorry about having to go back to work. I hate that down feeling. Try to enjoy what's left of today! Love your stash too, btw -- good choices! Off to watch the bunny video. :D
I also like the Old Aviary patterns, but don't have them all. Maybe when I'm stateside again I'll pick up the missing numbers. ;)
Pink's tastes are much more refined than raw pumpkin!
Awww, vacation time is never long enough.
Woo! Great stash!
That bunny eating the pumpkin is sooo funny! Too bad your bunnies didn't see the appeal.
Glenna don't you know you need to buy Halloween stitching ALL YEAR round??!! If I'd gone with you, you would have come home with that design, lol. Your WIP is so beautiful-those colors are gorgeous!
Your sampler is wonderful!
Sorry your vacation is over. That is a bummer indeed!
I love the bunny devouring the pumpkin. Funny! I now have a new baby bunny. It's very messy! How ever do you manage? Bunny advice?
Oh I know the end of vacation feeling, much like the end of a long weekend feeling only much more. OK, I'm empathizing but maybe not making you feel better.
Oooh, I wish I could get those SANQ magazines. I bought my first one because of you (summer issue?) and I liked it. Now I have ordered another older one because of Tanya!
Sarah is looking very pretty.
Tomorrow will be like jumping into the pool - initially it's cold but once you're in you'll be swimming! How's that for a metaphor?
I suspect Cadbury would have a similar reaction if offered a pumpkin. Nevertheless, I intend to try the experiment, if only to get a good Halloween pic.
Sarah is absolutely gorgeous. You seem to make so much progress each and every time I see it!
I love the "Bone Apetit" pattern. It is so cute! I hear ya on the vacation ending, although I don't have a "job" to go back to per se. But, I do have to catch up on my writing for both of my classes.
Unfortunately, I was not able to make it to In Stitches. I did have the address in my gps just in case. Hopefully I will make it there on another trip to the DC area.
Oh Glenna, Thank you so much for your advice. I didn't know about any of those things, except the chewing! He does chew on everything if you let him down. Bunny's name is undecided still. My vote, is "Lucky", because in my book, they are both really lucky I had my moment of weakness. My husband says there is no way he would have bought the bunny without my say so. I guess I'm stuck with the mess. (DD is suppose to be learning responsibility, but after she cleans the box and cage, I end up having to "help" a little more!)
I have a needle case and Sail Away stitching card for you. I've tried to get your address from Terri, but she has not e-mailed me with it. If you would like one I would love to send it to you. My e-mail is Hiddenheart@kellerits.com.
Thanks again for the advice. Tomorrow I'll be looking for an exotic vet!
Take Care.
Maybe it is the flu coming ... I think you need another week off. So do the bunns ...
The humans put some pumpkins in our room on the weekend. I resent their encroaching on our space. We have decided to ignore the pumpkins and punish the humans by leaving piles of poop in places they won't find for weeks.
Glenna - you have made so much progress on Sarah - she is just beautiful.
It is so hard to return to work (and school) after a relaxing vacation. I hope the week just flies by for you.
I love your Governor's Palace and need to add that to my list. I always enjoy stitching pieces that are of places I have visited (doesn't happen often).
I look forward to seeing your new HRH. I am still waiting for my 40 ct fabric to arrive so I can begin working on Sarah W.
What a fun Halloween piece and I love the fibers coming out of the cauldron. I have to take a road trip soon and visit the store.
I think the bunnie's lack of interest in the pumpkin just shows they are smart bunnies, LOL.
Sarah is looking gorgeous :-). Have a good day at work, hope you get back in the swing of things quickly.
Great new stash, Glenna! Sarah is just fabulous--YGG! ROFLOL at Pink. I fear I might have the same reaction at the sight of a vegetable. LOL
Pink looks very puzzled by the pumpkin. The one Amelia is ripping into with such delight is a special kind, very thin skin and sweet like a melon, maybe that helped stimulate her appetite...........I'm with RG on the vacation another week, wish I could give it to you.
Glenna, that Sarah is a stunner. I really love that one. Glad you found the GP. I don't remember why, but I stitched my windows dark. It's always bedtime in my version.
Sorry that you had to go back to work, why don't you give that silly job up and be bums like some of us,lol?
Sarah is beautiful. :) I have the Governor's Palace pattern as well... good to catch up on your posts!
Sarah looks really great. And wow, great new stash as well.
I don't think I've been to your blog before! I love your stitching buddies and bunnies. Did you try cutting the pumpkin into pieces? Just wondering.
Love the Governor's Palace. I'll have to look through my back issues to see if I have that one. The sampler you're working on is gorgeous.
