Greetings from somewhere inside Hurricane Sandy! It is raining steadily here, and it's quite breezy--maybe 15-20 mph. The temps have dropped a bit, from 52 this morning, to 47 now, in line with Sandy's merger with the cold front. So far, we have power; I'm crossing my fingers that we keep it, since I'm having a blast stitching and puttering. Note that everything photographed lighter than it is IRL--it's really dark with the storm. This is an ancient project that I got out of the closet and re-started. I think I bought it about 25 years ago at the now-defunct Total Crafts in Annandale, VA. I loved TC, and they seemed to do a great business--they predated Michaels, but their products were better and more fun. Of course it's Beatrix Potter, and the fabric that came in the kit is actually linen.
And I keep working away on this, which is getting close to a finish. There's a good bit more over-one though.
Speaking of over-one, just for fun I'm doing a Christmas ornament from a Prairie Schooler chart. Over one. On black (28). At night. Blindfolded. (OK, not blindfolded.)
Here's a view of the hurricane out our back door. That bent-over oak on the right has always been crooked--it's not an indication of the wind. The weather forecasters do say it's going to get a lot worse.
I went to Target and the grocery store and the pet store on Saturday (and couldn't find any water). Yesterday I toured gas stations and drug stores and found a few cases at CVS. I did stock up on Halloween candy at nearly every stop--we have literally 8 pounds of candy. (and Siobhan, I put the Reeses on top, just for you). Is it me, or does candy have less taste than it used to?
Pink and Peaches say it may be time to flee. Too late, guys; the trains and planes stopped running yesterday. At least we didn't have to go to work today!
Best wishes to everyone who is in or about to be in Sandy's grip!

With eight pounds of candy, you are surely ready for every eventuality. Good luck.
I looked for D batteries at Martin's yesterday but to no avail. So far we still have power here (knock wood) so I'm hoping for some stitchy time if that lasts. Good luck to you!
Be safe, Glenna! Hopefully the electricity will remain on and you will be allowed to continue with your stitching and puttering. Not much wind here (yet) in my part of Virginia, but we are getting the rain.

Eight pounds of candy should get you through the storm, but I hope that it's not bad for you. We're in Michigan and they're predicting 50 mph winds and rain and the winds are quite strong already.
Love your Beatrix Potter piece so much. I think that I might actually have the book that the alphabets are in somewhere around here (no, I don't get rid of anything! LOL).
I miss Total Crafts so much! I was just talking about it with someone the other day. I could always find the neatest things in there....

Hope you stay safe in the storm -- I'm nervous about it of course. Love that BP piece! What fun! I love BP! And your Catharine is looking sooooooo pretty!!! Love the tiny PS ornament -- wow, tiny! Fingers crossed the storm leaves us all safe and sound.
Love your stitching updates! I hope you are still safe and sound. It is getting quite wicked out there here too in CT. Hopefully we will make it thru without much trouble!! stay safe!
Love your progress pics! I also love that you've got your priorites...namely, chocolate! A girl after my own heart. :o) Seriously, be safe and take care!
Ya....8 lbs. should get you through a couple of days !! LOL !!! I love the Beatrix Potter piece. It is adorable..and on linen. Lucky YOU.
Be safe and enjoy the stitching time. Hugs to the bunnies!!
Good luck with Sandy! Keeping you and everyone else in it's path in my thoughts and prayers.
Your stitching progress is lovely. I especially like the Beatrix Potter design, very pretty.
Stay safe x x
Hi Glenna- the BP piece is so pretty! I love it! ANd the PS ornament is just wow!
I agree on candy not tasting like it used to- I picked up a chocolate bar at IKEA last week and it tasted so much better than "supermarket" candy. Don't know why?
Stay safe & dry!
Everything looks great. Hope Sandy passes quickly. I already ate all the Halloween candy and need to buy more tomorrow. Do it every year.
Candy and stitching.....the perfect way to weather the storm!!
Over one on black linen... you are a brave woman. Hope you make it through the storms safely and with power.
Hunker down. Put a big rock in the Weber! (Where are the Snickers?) That linen cloth looks very rich!
Stay calm bunns!
I hope that you were safe during the storm and that it wasn't too bad. And I hope that you could continue stitching to your heart's content.
That Beatrix Potter piece is just darling. Reminds me of the movie that I haven't watched for quite a while, so it's time to watch it again.
Beautiul progress! I hope that you still have power. You have stitching and chocolate so you are set :)
That's what I call courage, stitching over 1 on black :-) Very pretty! I hope you got through the storm ok.
Here's hoping you keep your power so you can keep stitching! 8# of candy should help about anything! A few winters ago we were out of power for 5 days after a bad ice storm...no fun!!

If I were stitching over one on black, I may as well be blindfolded for the mess I'd make of it!
So how'd you fare the storm? We had worrisome high winds here, but our street didn't lose power and all the animals (kids, too, LOL) were fine.
Hope you made it through the storm with a minimum of headaches. I'm just south of you (near King's Dominion) and we were far enough south to miss the worst, but it was a wicked night last night. Beautiful stitching (as usual). Love the Prairie Schooler.
hope you're all okay...
Looking great Glenna Hope everything stayed light for you. I can remember that alphabet I may even have it somewhere in my stash.
Beatrix Potter is so pretty. Thank goodness you are stocked up on treats. Hope you are well and came thru the storm unharmed. That one over one piece looks AMAZING! WOW.
love Annette
