Moves Like Jagger

I have been trying to become someone who stitches and finishes rather than someone who just stitches, so that means taking those few finished projects that have been languishing in a drawer or a bag and getting them framed (at In Stitches, of course, where they know how to treat a piece of needlework). "Gone Fishing" by Sheepish Designs, mostly as charted (in DMC) on mystery Lakeside 32 count.

Here's a closeup that shows the colors in the wood frame.

I have been toiling (although it's an enjoyable toil) on Sarah Hatton McPhail. Here's the before picture as last shown (June-ish?)

And here's where she stands now.

I crammed as much stitching as I could into this weekend, so that I wouldn't feel bad when the new girl arrives, since I ordered the new design from The Essamplaire. Have you seen her? After having gone to Newport in August to see the Rhode Island sampler exhibition, how could I not stitch her? I'm thinking it might be a nice challenge to stich all the Rhode Island samplers I can get my hands on (and remembering I've started both Elizabeth Sheffield (Scarlet Letter) and Wisdom (Vermillion) and I own Sheepish Designs' Mary Tillinghast. There are others out there too, which I'm thinking of acquiring. This photo is from The Essamplaire's website.

Speaking of which, here's "Wisdom" as I left it.

Elvis says he moves like Jagger. Pink: "He moves like Jagger but he looks like Richards."

Happy week ahead!

  1. Great job on Gone Fishing! Is Karen still the framer at In Stitches? I always loved what she did with my stuff when I loved in Alexandria.

I saw Anne Anthony as well, and had some grandiose plans of her being the perfect companion piece to Elizabeth Sheffield. Of course that would mean I need to actually work on Elizabeth instead of constantly starting new stuff.

  6. Gone Fishing is wonderful! Great colors, and great frame too! Your Sarah and Wisdom both look great. I'm still resisting Anne. I figure since I have Elizabeth Sheffield ready to go, I'll stick to her for now. lol on Elvis! I think he's better looking than Keith!

  14. Great framing on that wonderful piece. You have some serious samplers in your collection - will enjoy watching them grow.

  15. After all the hard work of stitching, it's certainly preferable to have it well-framed! The Essamplaire border is just stunning (and complicated to the novice eye)!

I don't see the resemblance between Elvis and Richards--Elvis doesn't look dessicated and preserved at all. Which rocker does Elvis think Pink looks like?

  19. Oh my gosh, fanTAStic!! Seeing the before & after pics of Catherine really shows how much progress you made. YGG! I loved your framed Sheepish piece, too. I think I have that chart. Of course, never stitched it but plan to. The frame was a great choice--love the moulding. Wisdom is gorgeous!!! I love the colors in it. Love Anne, too. I want to do some Rhode Island samplers, too, and have Elizabeth Sheffield & Mary Tillinghast just begging to be stitched, but I have to get some things finished before I start more. Famous last words!

  20. I am loving your music titles. LOL.
The Sheepish finish looks great. I love the colors. I think that it is great that you are trying to finish some things that you have started. I need to be more focused and finish some things too.
I think that your new girl is a great addition. Don't feel guilty :)

  27. If you start finishing projects, who will have more projects on the go than me? Still loving Sarah too.

  28. Absolutely stunning projects. The Sheepish looks so great and I'll have to go and see if I can get the chart anywhere. Or I'll have to start stitching one of the Sheepish charts that I already own. OR I'll have to pull out my Sheepish WIP and continue stitching on it. Decisions, decisions, lol.

  34. Girl, if these were smalls you were stitching you'd have finishes left & right. Don't you worry about finishing, just enjoy yourself and the finishes will come! But I know, you are already doing this ~ lol!

Gone Fishing looks so great! The frame is really lovely.
