I used to think I didn't like satin stitches before undertaking this project. I can't show you the whole picture until next week when it's released at the online needlework show, but it is a sweet design.
I made some progress this week on A Parrot, a Leopard, a Lion. Only, because I haven't fleshed out the parrot, it should be called "A Scrawny Chicken and Some Endless Foliage." I am uncomfortably reminded by this image that Thanksgiving is a little under six weeks away. Urk.
How I regret not buying more Birds of a Feather charts while they were still designing. Now we're left with what we can scratch up from ebay. I got this chart this week. Does anyone have any idea of how many designs they might have done? (So I can take a second mortgage on the house to get them all.) Cue Joni Mitchell, singing "You don't know what you've got 'til it's gone..." Is it any wonder that we stitchers are such chart hoarders? "A Bird in the Hand," charted for DMC and WDW on 32 count linen.
Here's a sweet little group to wish you a merry Sunday and a happy new week.

Love your stitching progress! Good for you to score a BOAF chart. I love their designs and finding them is a chore...but totally worth it!! Love your bunnies too! Have a great week!
Awww, your bunnies look so cute, like they are waiting for the game to begin. Where's the chow?
Love all your stitchy pictures, as always! I look forward to seeing which design you're talking about, when the online show starts...this coming week?
I'm with you there re BOAF chart! I don't know how many they designed - wish there was a catalog we could view! Nice that you scored that one!
I like the way you think about your progress. Think about finding BOAF charts as a treasure hunt and there are a lot of us out there hunting. We aren't all looking for BOAF patterns but we all have a designer we hunt for our stash.
Nice! I love the colors in your scrawny chicken with foliage so much! I'm sure the scrawny chicken will turn into a parrot soon. lol! The satin stitches look great too -- can't wait to see the whole design. And yay on the BOAF chart!
If you're looking for any particular BOAF charts, let me know and maybe we can do a swap or something.
I love your scrawny chicken, but I'm really glad mine are much fluffier. ;)
Love your pieces, can't wait to get my hands on that sampler :-). Cute bunnies too.
Love the piece you are working on! And I didn't even know that BOAF were not designing anymore!
I'm very sorry you seem to find the foliage and the turkey a bit tedious, but I think it all looks totally scrumptious!
Love BOAF, especially the chart you won on eBay!
What perfect satin stitches, and the sampler looks yummy from your teaser. Great progress on the scrawny chicken, and congrats on conquering the BOAF - I'm a fan too, but I think I grabbed the ones I really wanted when they were till available, thank goodness.
I have the Bird in Hand chart myself and it makes me laugh everytime I pull it out and look at it because of that new Geiko commercial where they have it sat up to look like "Antique Roadshow" and there is this porcelain hand laying on the table with a bird in it and the dealer says "This is a fine representation. I'd say this bird in hand is worth.....two in the bush." LOL! Have you seen it? As I sit her cackling like Bruhilda....
Your stitching is beautiful! There are still some BOAF charts left at 123stitch.com and abcstitch.com., plus a bunch at http://www.hoffmandis.com/productlst.cfm
Sorry. Didn't finish the info before I spilled my coffee! You can go to ElegantStitch.com and click on Merchant Mall, then order anything Hoffman has through them (BOAF plus all others). Good luck girls!
Love your progress on that sampler Glenna. And congrats for getting that BOAF chart. Funny how we don't buy them when they come out, but then we fall all over ourselves trying to find them later. That's probably why I accumulate so much stash - I know that I'll want it later.
Thanks to you my Mary Western chart showed up today. Well, I have to blame someone, don't I? LOL
Wonderful stitching Glenna! The bunnies are, as always, adorable.
Great job on your satin stitches! Very pretty.
I don't remember ever seeing that particular BOAF chart! I keep falling love with those designs..
This looks to be a beautiful sampler! Nice progress in the second photo. You always stitch designs with the most beautiful colors!
I love Birds Of A Feather too and wish I had some of the designs I don't have and may never have!
Good week to the bunnies too!
I can't wait to see your new design! Your wip is just beautiful. BOAF, another wonderful designer on the extinct list.
Why don't those bunnies chew on that cat blanket?
Yea - I like that satin stitch - what is a satin stitch?
But I know Big Yellow Taxi!!!
That parrot looks like he could let out quite a squawk!!!! Those three buns, such a group, do they get into trouble together?
I could just kick myself in the behind for not buying those BOF charts when they were right smack dab in front of me. Good score!
LOL - love the scrawny chicken! And I only hate satin stitches because mine won't lay right. I hate that!! Excellent score on the BOAF chart.
Both wips are just gorgeous!! I love the colors!! Are you using silks on parrot, lion, etc.?
Okay, I'm loving that sampler that is coming out at the ONS!! Great colors in it. Your scrawny chicken looks great, too. You crack me up! Good for you on the BOAF score! I LOVE their stuff. I don't know of a comprehensive list of their OOP and current designs, but if you go to www.flocktogether.com, you can go to their site and drool over designs that are only in needlepoint. :P It says that a new designer (not Nancy Martin & family--think that was her name...) bought the company. BOAF's designs were quirky and fun. My two BOAF girls, L'Ete & Le Printemps are the only things that my contemporary art-loving SIL said were nice in my house, LOL.
You are making great progress on the satin stitches Glenna, go ahead and show the whole piece as today it is debuting on the online Needlework Show. How is Catharine coming along? (Patty from Samplers Revisited)
Lovely stitching! Adorable bunnies!
I've been looking over your blog and have been enjoying all your projects!! You sure do accomplish a lot. I have a question about your fiber usage on a design. Would you mind contacting me? mlpatacca @ bellsouth.net (Close spaces)
In stitches,
~Linda~
How can you manage those wonderful stitches. I just hope my wife could start on such project so don't she minimizes decorating our rabbit hutches. It is already over decorated and I don't like it.
